St Lucia lies within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, South Africa's very first world heritage site (Unesco 1999). It's a magical place to visit and ironically is only 54km away from the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park if you are driving from the Nyalazi Gate.
This place is commonly referred to as a miracle and for good reason. Home to one of the largest free-roaming populations of Hippos in South Africa (800 or so), 1200 Nile Crocodiles, one of the largest Estuaries in Africa, tropical Indian Ocean currents, and numerous Biospheres.
