Day 1 Arrive Durban International
Arrive at King Shaka International Airport Durban or the surrounding area of Durban. Your personal ranger will meet you and transfer you to St Lucia a mere 2,5 hours drive North. The afternoon your game ranger will take you on an introductory drive and enjoy a sunset drink. (Overnight 4-star Accommodation St Lucia, At Heritage House)
Day 2 Big 5 Safari Umfolozi Game Reserve
Early departure with your game ranger to the oldest proclaimed game reserve in Africa 96000 hectares of wilderness to explore on an Open Game Drive Safari, enjoy incredible sightings, bush catering and a chance to enjoy a traditional South African Braai. Your passionate and experienced game ranger will ensure that you get to the best spots within the reserve without wasting any time. This reserve is truly an iconic reserve. (Overnight 4 Star Accommodation St Lucia, At Heritage House)
Day 3 Cheetah & Elephant Interaction
We travel to Bayete Zulu to enjoy wild African Elephant feeding and a chance for you to actually touch an African Elephant. Then late afternoon we travel to Emdoneni where you too may have a chance to touch Cheetahs at this rehabilitation center. Its a day of first-hand encounters. Day 4 iSimangaliso Wetland Park
Departing after breakfast you will first hand discover while this area has been proclaimed as a world heritage site, travel by open game drive vehicle and enjoy a day of both bush and beach the tropical Indian ocean ensures year-round bating conditions. Enjoy the migration of the mighty Humpback whales during the winter months. (Overnight 4 Star Accommodation St Lucia)
Day 5 Big 5 Safari Hluhluwe Game Reserve, Cheetah Rehab Centre
Early departure as you travel to Hluhluwe the northern side of the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve, scenery, wildlife and incredible animal sightings await you. Late afternoon you will stopover at Emdoneni Cheetah Rehab center for a chance to witness the various Cheetah's and other interesting wildlife at the center, just enough time for you to touch a Cheetah.
Day 6 Boat Safari and Sunset Safari
Enjoy a relaxed morning with some free time, a late afternoon Boat Cruise on the St Lucia Estuary, Africa's largest. Home to more than 800 Hippos, 1000 Nile Crocodiles, and an abundance of Bird-life.
Then depart for a Night Drive Safari to go in search of the Nocturnal Wildlife in the Western Shores of iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Go in search of the elusive Leopard, Hippos, Buffalo, Elephants, and much more.
Day 7 Wetlands Safari
Western Shores Bush Safari followed by a Zulu Cultural show. Yet another busy day awaits as you will enjoy a half-day safari into the western shores enjoy some magnificent scenery and tremendous wildlife. Then sit back and enjoy Zulu Dancing, Culture and folk stories of yesteryear.
Day 8 Depart back to Durban

“Amazing safari with Hermitage Tours and Safaris ”
This company is just amazing. Every person we dealt with was so friendly and so professional. We left our cruise ship at Richards Bay after being collected from the port and driven to St Lucia.
We were taken on a number of safaris including a night safari and a riverboat amongst the hippos. The accommodation was wonderful and the meals were very good. On the last day, we were driven to Durban so that we could fly to Capetown and rejoin the ship. Everything went to plan and we all (6 of us) enjoyed an amazing adventure. Would definitely recommend this company to any travelers.
Our guides were David, Theo, Tember, and Dennis. They all were very courteous, enthusiastic and most importantly knowledgeable. But David stood out among all. He was just fantastic.
Early start at 5 am was worth it…We were one of the luckiest to see "BIG 5" on our half-day safari. Yes, it's correct… within one day!! David was our guide, he must have brought luck with him.
Saw other animals such as Giraffes, Zebras, wildebeest, antelope and Kudus etc...but, not Cheetahs, Hyenas or wild dog. Hippos, Crocs , Pelicans and some colorful birds on our boat safari. Breakfast and lunch in the bush was a lovely and different experience with monkeys watching us.
We did an afternoon safari in isimangaliso wetlands park by our selves. Compared to Kruger ( nine years ago ) was a different experience with a narrow escape from an elephant.
Cape Vidal is where wildlife meets the ocean. One of the best beaches we have been to. Good for snorkeling. Watch out for “Blue Bottles “. I had a terrible ordeal with them. End up getting two shots for vomiting and allergic reaction
Mission rocks lookout was stunning. Had a great picnic which was included with the tour.

Our South African experience was amazing with many in the group saying that it was those few days were the highlight of the trip.
We travel a lot & people often ask me whether I would go back to various places and mostly the answer is if our travels take us that way but St Lucia is a place we definitely want to back to and spend more time.
I cannot thank you Bev, and Heritage Tours for making this experience so great and so memorable. Our journey began with our lovely and very knowledgeable guide Dulce escorting us to St Lucia. Our lodge was great with very friendly staff, but your tour operators were amazing. Friendly, helpful, informative and so sensitive to the environment were the qualities that stood out with our group.
I enjoyed a couple of trips with John whose knowledge blew me away. Thanks to your people also on the ground in St Lucia who agreed to transport us around on our last night, which was appreciated by all and a special thanks also to the lovely natured Zane who was our driver.
I must also add Bev that the food in St Lucia was amazing, the seafood at the Ocean Basket and the food at Braza fantastic. And the hospitality of your lovely nephew made us feel so welcome. Actually, all the food we ate and all the people we met in St Lucia exceeded our expectations.
We enjoyed our return trip & tour of Durban with the lovely Dulce and she even escorted us all into the airport offering assistance at every stage, a truly beautiful person.

Every day was a great new adventure, and we managed to see 4 out of the big 5 over the course of the week. It was exciting searching for lesser spotted animals.
Everything was organized perfectly, pickups were always on time, the food was great and all of the guides we had were very knowledgable and friendly.
Jason was our guide for the majority of our tour and he was fantastic! Really knew his stuff, but was very friendly at the same time. He clearly really loves what he does and that shines through.
