Hot and humid conditions prevail during this time, with thunderstorms (occasionally) and showers mostly in the afternoons.

The hottest months of the year, rain can be expected late afternoons. High humidity contributes to temperatures and it is essential to hydrate at all times. This too coincides when one can possibly witness a rare sighting of Lions in the trees. This is predominantly done to escape the warmer conditions and flies. Should you be on Safari use midday to relax as most predators will be as well.

The perfect time of the year, mild temperatures with less rain generally. This period of time is ideal for full day safari explorations. Explore all water sources as they will prove valuable.

The Sun rises continue to be early however with cooler conditions one can explore deeper and further into this incredible and magnificent park. Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park has some tremendous history and information not to mention the African Big 5, Cheetah and Wild Dogs to mention but just a few of the wildlife sightings that you too could experience. This is the start of the wet season after winter and dryer conditions. Magic and beauty surrounds these months as one can see the transformation from dryer and sandy conditions to green belts of grass. This time of the year is magnificent as well with new borns being spotted everywhere. The Imfolozi section of the park offers more open spaces from where to spot wildlife as the northern side Hluhluwe becomes denser during this time.

Winter: May to September
Winter is by far not cold due to its subtropical conditions that prevail year round. Early mornings are cooler and a light jacket may be needed, midday is warm and truly comfortable. Late afternoon and evening once again a light jacket may be needed. This time of year is dryer and less rain can be expected. With calm cool days one may be able to safari for the entire day. As water becomes scarce in either the Hluhluwe and the Imfolozi Park one should try to keep to all river beds for the best possibly sightings. Sunrises and Sunsets are the most exquisite during this time of the year. Should you be venturing into the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park please do try and enter as early as possible as this is when the predators are most active.
