The oldest and by far the best game reserves close to Durban is the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, situated north of Durban and aprox only 250 km its a easy and comfortable drive on the national road. Hluhluwe Game Reserve is the oldest proclaimed game reserve in Africa and with 96000 hectares in which to explore and travel one has so much to discover. The game reserve has incredible history of days when king Shaka used used the umfolozi as his private and personal hunting grounds or how the game capture unit have created various techniques to save the endangered rhino from certain extinction in the early 60’s.
