Please note that the above is the formerly known name and it is know known as the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park, this magnificent 96000 hectare park is home to the big 5, Cheetah and African Wild Dogs, the park or game reserve was previously didvided into two seperate game reserves, the Hluhluwe Game Reserve and the Umfolozi Game Reserve one could not access the two however one had to drive to two seperate gates.
Today however the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve or Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park may know be accessed by either of the gates and one may also travel to both sides while within the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve. The northern section known for its hilly topography and splendid views, while its contender the Umfolozi offers one more open plains and more access to water sources. Hluhluwe is well known for its Hilltop camp offering both accommodation and restuarant, while in the south Mpilla camp offers rondavels, and a conveniance store.
Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve in its own rights remains a must while in the area of KwaZulu Natal South Africa, with easy access both from Durban a mere 2,5hrs and within South Afirca’s first world heritage site St Lucia 54km away one should make this part of your travels.

Travelling from Durban take the Northbound N2, travel approx 2 hours one may access the gate from either the Umfolozi side the Nylazi Gate or the Memorial gate in the Hluhluwe side.
