Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park Activities
What makes the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park so Attractive and what Activities are allowed within the Park. The Park a 96000 hectare reserve and the oldest proclaimed reserve in Africa offers one a possible chance of witnessing the amazing Big5, Cheetah, Wild Dogs and so much more.
Activities within the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park include the following:
- Day Drive Safari’s
- Night Drive Safaris (Please note that these are only available should you be overnighting within the Park)
- Guided Day Walking Trails from the Umfolozi Park section
- Guided Overnight Walking Trails from the Umfolozi Park section
The Safaris are arranged as follows, 3 hour day safari options, half day safari options and full day safari options. The organised safaris include conservation levies, breakfast on half day safaris and lunch on the full day safaris. The night drive safaris that are on offer run from certain accommodations within the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park, please should you be interested in these safaris please do book prior to arrival as they are incredibly popular, these nocturnal safaris may only be described as magnificent. The guided day walking trails are run from the Mpila Camp in the Umfolozi Park, they too are extremely popular and bookings must be done prior.
Guided overnight safaris are also arranged and run from the Umfolozi Park, these are run during the cooler months and once again bookings need to be made well in advance. These guided overnight guided walking safaris are rustic and well worth it, what a better way to experience the Big 5 while on foot. All of the rangers are well experienced and have a world of knowledge.
Other Activities allowed in the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park include picnic’s are designated on the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Maps, please do take care when exciting one’s vehicle as this a Natural wildlife park. Hides or Boma’s have also been erected within the Park, these offer one an opportunity to leave one’s vehicle and witness the wildlife and surrounds in the hide.
Each Activity within the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park are run and managed according to certain regulations, please adhere to all at all times and please do not detour from the roads allocated for the public, all management roads are used not only for translocation but also for the anti poaching units.
